Sometimes (not often but sometimes) I wish I was b Sometimes (not often but sometimes) I wish I was born in a temperate climate so I could visit the Caribbean and fall in love with it in an completely different way.
.
Not hating on winter because I know so many people who really love it (and let's face it, it is beautiful!). But I imagine if I was born in a place with low temperatures, snow and no beaches, my soul would become proper obsessed with these Caribbean islands. Yes, even more obsessed than I am now.
.
But can you blame me? I mean, look at them โค๏ธ Well Tobago. Since I haven't seen a foreign island in exactly 1 year, 1 month and 16 days (St. Croix, I am honoured to have you as my last regional destination before our borders closed).
.
Side bar & full disclosure: My photo selection was inspired by @bookofcinz's post today inviting y'all to attend her book club meeting this afternoon, but also (sorta) gently encouraging everyone to read at their own pace. If you're a reader hop on over there and act surprised when you see her sitting on the same tree trunk ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพ
.
Also, Cinz girl, I AM SORRY I cut off your ๐Ÿฅฅ tree top!!! How did you even allow that to happen??? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

Nothing says Friday vibes better than blue skies a Nothing says Friday vibes better than blue skies and oodles of sunshine.

Here's hoping everyone enjoys the weekend wherever you are, whatever you're doing.
.
I won't be seeing the beach but I will be meeting up with a group of friends for the first time since the pandemic hit (can't believe it's been that long ๐Ÿ˜ฎ) and having a special lunch with my fam so it's gonna be two days with some of my favorite people ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ

Happy Friday!!!

๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ Carnival 2022 Countdown: ACTIVATED!!! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ
.
Ok Carnival is over. And I survived. Didn't even overdo it with the throwback posts. Mainly because looking at old pics made me cry ๐Ÿฅบ
.
Now it's behind us. Well...at least until the memories from 2020 start popping up on FB in a few days ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฟโ€โ™€๏ธ Other than that, I can just return to my regularly scheduled programme of beaching and random exploration.
.
Alas, the Carnival tabanca is still very heavy and very real, so I've really got nothing else to say except...

๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’™ Look at that water though ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’ฆ

Things to do in Tobago #1: Spend a day at @pigeonp Things to do in Tobago #1: Spend a day at @pigeonpointtobago
.
There's a reason Pigeon Point Heritage Heritage Park is hands down the most popular beach in Tobago.
.
It might have a little something to do with the fact that this strip of coastline has the bluest water and whitest sand you'll find on the island.
.
But it's also because when it comes to amenities, PPHP literally has everything you could possibly need for a fabulous all-day beach lime/hang.
.
โœ… Two restaurants serving up a wide variety of meals
โœ… Two bars pouring out yummy drinks
โœ… Beach chairs and umbrellas
โœ… Cabanas
โœ… Shops selling any and all kinds of beach gear
โœ… Watersports (from kite sailing to jet skiing to kayaking and more)
โœ… Glass bottom boat tours to the Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool
โœ… A million beautiful spots for photo ops
โœ… Lockers
โœ… Restrooms
.
I may not frequent Pigeon Point due to my preference for seclusion, but it's a mandatory stop for anyone visiting Tobago and you absolutely have to check it out if/when you visit!

Oh what a difference a week makes. . About this ti Oh what a difference a week makes.
.
About this time last week I was settling into the cabin at @erasmuscovetobago about to head out on a mini hike to this waterfall.
.
Now I'm back in Trinidad.
.
Having spent over a month away from home, it does feel good to be back in my own space, sleeping in my bed and working from my desk, but whenever I return to Trini I always miss the close proximity to adventure that Tobago offers...
.
There's always a beach, a waterfall, a trail, something to explore nearby.
.
This waterfall for instance, was just about a 25 minute trek from the cabin. Easy hike heading down and not tooooooo challenging coming back up either!
.
But for while it's back to reality for me...can't wait for the next Bago trip!
Things to do in Tobago #101: Drive around the isla Things to do in Tobago #101: Drive around the island in one day.
.
Circling the island all in one day is totally doable. However, it takes me waaay longer than it should because there are so many diversions along the way, be it beaches to dip in or views to take in.
.
My recommended route is to head east along North Coast Road, cut through the rainforest via the Roxborough-Parlatuvier Road and make your way to Charlotteville, then return to the west along Windward Road.
.
A few can't-miss stops:
โœ… Mt. Dillon Lookout
โœ… Englishman's Bay
โœ… Glasgow's Bar (designate a driver)
โœ… Pirate's Bay
โœ… Fort Campbelton
โœ… Suckhole Restaurant & Bar
โœ… Fort Grandby
.
If you're in need of a rental car, @tobagoautorentals has been my go-to vendor for almost 5 years. Professional service, impeccable fleet, airport pickup and collection, and they move heaven and earth to make things happen even at the last minute. (And no this isn't an ad lol they're just that good and I think we need to give credit where it is due)!
This view...I will never get over this view... . I This view...I will never get over this view...
.
In my travels there are two main types of trips.
.
Trip #1: The ones you need another vacation to recover from...You know, trips that are action-packed and keep you on the go from the moment you touch down? For me, those usually occur in cities. With so much to see and do, public transport to hop on and off of, pavements to pound and distractions to absorb, it feels like you don't ever really stop moving until you get back home. I don't do these very often, but every few years I feel like picking up the pace and I forego sea and sand for subways and skyscrapers and I thoroughly enjoy the rush.
.
Then there's...
.
Trip #2: The ones like my staycation at @erasmuscovetobago...trips that are so relaxing you're not even sure you'll remember how to function when you return to reality. Lazy mornings become lazy days and before you know it they morphe into lazy nights as all you've really done all day is swing in a hammock, testing your knowledge of the different species of birds flying by, sipping wine, watching Netflix and indulging in the occasional (and awkward) solo photo shoot. Pure bliss.
.
Both types of vacations are fulfilling in their own way but my default setting will always be the latter. Give me solitude and ocean views over crowds and city skylines any day ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ
.
How about you, are you more a Trip #1 type of traveler or Trip #2?
Things to do in Tobago #99: Get cozy at a cottage/ Things to do in Tobago #99: Get cozy at a cottage/cabin
.
After a grueling month working on a taxing project I needed a proper-proper escape. Prior to the pandemic that would have meant hopping on an international flight and fantasizing about collecting my Carnival costume upon my return ๐Ÿ˜ญ
.
But in 2021 catching flights and claiming feathers aren't in the cards. So I opted for a reclusive getaway up in the hills of Parlatuvier at @erasmuscovetobago and...It. Was. Epic.
.
Miles away from civilisation and with some of the most amazing ocean views, you can literally spend an entire day just swinging in the hammock looking out at the water, listening to the birds, and lapping up the cool breezes that blow consistently.
.
The cottage has everything you could possibly need, from a fully equipped kitchen to wifi to two of the sweetest dogs that greet you every morning and accompany you on walks around the property. Bonus: you have access to a secluded beach AND waterfall!
.
Note: Getting there takes a bit of horse power so make sure you have the right vehicle. Thankfully, I was able to rent a ride at the last minute from @tobagoautorentals or I might never have made it in and out of that dirt road!
.
Overall, I honestly couldn't have asked for a more relaxing weekend and highly recommend a stay at Erasmus Cove for anyone who appreciates peace and quiet, loves nature and never tires and nature's blue and green hues ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š
